Vaping: Misconceptions & Safer Practices
What is vaping?
What are its health effects?
Why are there so many myths surrounding the subject?
This presentation will help you as a student make informed discussions about the use of this substance.
Although vaping is often used to reduce or quit smoking tobacco, among those who reported having vaped in the past 30 days, a majority (61%) of youth aged 15 to 19 and more than one-quarter (27%) of young adults aged 20 to 24 had never tried a tobacco cigarette in their life (Statistics Canada, 2022). This finding suggests that the majority of university-aged youth are not using vaping devices to reduce or quit smoking. Within this workshop we will aim to touch the several factors that may drive some students to vape, health-related risks associated with vaping, and harm-reduction practices that can help reduce some of the associated risks.
