Unnatural Disasters and Disaster by Choice

Join us for a very unique event and hear from two great scholars on why most responses to risk and climate change fail but some succeed and how our actions turn natural hazards into catastrophes.

In this webinar, Professor Gonzalo Lizarrald from the University of Montreal will speak about the main ideas in his new book published by Colombia University, Unnatural Disasters, and Professor Ilan Kelman will speak about the key messages of his new book, Disaster by Choice. Their presentations will be followed by a panel discussion chaired and moderated by Ida Ferrara from the Department of Economics and invited panellists Anna Zalik from the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change and Professor David Etkin from Disaster and Emergency Management.
