Join us for an exciting and interactive Teaching Kitchen led by Chef Rick Powless, a Red Seal Chef, York University grad student and member of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. Learn how to prepare meaningful and nourishing dishes that celebrate Indigenous foodways:

  • Traditional Strawberry Drink – A refreshing and naturally sweet beverage.
  • Mush 2 Ways – Discover the versatility of this classic dish prepared three delicious ways.
  • Mixed Berry Wild Rice with Maple Syrup – A perfect blend of natural ingredients and rich flavors.

During this in-person event, you’ll gain hands-on experience while Chef Rick shares stories, cultural significance, and tips to connect food with community, health, and tradition.

Whether you’re new to cooking or a seasoned pro, this event is perfect for anyone looking to learn, have fun, and explore the rich heritage of Indigenous cuisine.

Don’t forget to bring your own takeout container to enjoy any leftovers!
