ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Emilia White (she/they) is an assistant professor and program coordinator of Integrative Arts in the Department of Computational Arts. Formerly, Emilia taught at the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design. Emilia boasts a BFA in Theatre & Original Works and an MFA in Studio Arts. Currently, her research delves into female embodiment and motherhood, using humor to approach the grotesque. They’re working on a witty video animation called “40 Year Old ZIT” about aging and a DIY publication titled “The Ugly Placenta” on maternal health.
Emilia’s art has graced venues across North America, Taiwan, and Indonesia, including Collar Works and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. They’ve also co-curated The Performance Laboratory in Detroit and were part of the political arts collective Taring Padi in Indonesia. Born in Northern California, Emilia is a proud parent of two wonderful kids.
Meet Lan Vu the International Recruitment Officer for the York University School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD). Lan holds a master’s degree in education from Canada, where she was once an international student herself. With 15 years of experience in student advisory roles, Lan has been a guiding light for countless students navigating their educational journeys.
