ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Dr. Patrick Alcedo, a dynamic figure in the world of dance and film. As the chair of Canada’s most comprehensive dance department at York University in Toronto, he’s on a mission to inspire the next generation of dance practitioners and researchers. He’s not just any chair; he’s the first racialized person to hold this prestigious position in the department’s history.
Dr. Alcedo’s impact goes beyond academia. He’s a recipient of York University’s top teaching award and has earned international recognition for his work in Philippine traditional dances. His documentary, “A Piece of Paradise,” snagged top honors at the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival.
Meet Lan Vu the International Recruitment Officer for the York University School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD). Lan holds a master’s degree in education from Canada, where she was once an international student herself. With 15 years of experience in student advisory roles, Lan has been a guiding light for countless students navigating their educational journeys.
