The Jerusalem Orchestra East West is a multicultural orchestra comprising musicians from three religions, from all over the country and from all of Israel’s diverse groups. The orchestra, directed by Maestro Tom Cohen is a unique organization in the world music scene, which weaves together artistic excellence and entertainment as an intentional agenda. In 2022, the orchestra gained recognition as Israel’s leading orchestra by the Culture & Sport State Department.
“Between East and West” is part of the “Sound and Sense” series which is an initiative dedicated to showcasing the multicultural diversity of Jewish musical expression as well as the ongoing intersections between Jewish and non-Jewish musical practices and communities. The initiative is driven by an inclusive philosophy that believes in the power of music to serve as a bridge-builder and a vehicle for cultural exchange and dialogue.
The series has been made possible via the generous support of the Azrieli Foundation. This event is presented in partnership with the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre.
