Sex on the Couch – Pride Edition
Let’s talk about all things sex! Our peer health educators and community support team are here to help you navigate the world of 2SLGBTQIA+ sexual health as safely and comfortably as possible.
Join us for a community dialog regarding sexual health, consent, healthy relationships, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and practices for safer sex. You are welcome to ask your questions as anonymously as you like, and no question is too strange or silly.
Question examples include:
-
“I’m not having penetrative sex, can I still get an STI?”
-
“Is anal sex as easy and clean as it is in porn?”
-
“I identify as asexual but my partner does not. I am worried that my partner is unsatisfied in our relationship because I do not want to have sex, what can I do?”
Send us your questions on our anonymous Microsoft Form.
Meet our lead facilitators
Hello everyone! My name is Valentina (she/her), I am Health Ed’s Engagement Lead and a Global Health student here at York University entering my fourth year of studies. This is my second year participating in Sex on the Couch and I am so excited to connect with you all and share a meaningful conversation surrounding 2SLGBTQIA+ Sexual Health! One thing I love about this event is that it is centred around open dialogue, so it feels more like you are having a conversation with supportive peers than a presentation. With that being said, feel free to jump in with any questions or comments you may have throughout the presentation!
Hi! My name is Hiba (she/her) and I am this year’s Health Ed’s Team Lead. I am in my 3rd year of Kinesiology and Health Sciences, and I am very passionate about anything to do with Health! I’m looking forward to being a part of this conversation and helping raise awareness around 2SLGBTQIA+ Sexual Health and Healthy Relationships. My favourite activity to do whenever I have free time is to cook or bake! I love trying new foods and having friends and family taste test them. 🙂
What is a Safer Space?
A safe space is a supportive and affirming environment for two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans/transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and non-binary (2SLGBTQIA+) students. While we can never ensure that any space is going to be “safe” and affirming one hundred percent of the time, a safer space is a place, group or community that is intentionally working to affirm our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We encourage curiosity and respect everyone’s lived experience. We strive our best to create an online space where you can ask your question to the degree of privacy you prefer. If there are any additional accommodations you specifically require in order to attend this event, please contact Alicia Moonesar at moonesar@yorku.ca.
