The rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus proves we are connected globally like never before, yet borders have closed and responses to the virus are decidedly national. This short talk will look at the intersection of COVID-19 with other humanitarian disasters, such war, a huge ‘risk factor’ and explores the thickening of borders and potential balkanization of the world.
