Scholars’ Hub @ Home | The latest United Nations report – Accelerating the energy transition
Presented by Professor Patricia Perkins, Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change
Huge potential now exists to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency, adoption of renewables and new energy infrastructures, and the global spread of low-emission technologies and lifestyles which can provide healthy, decent living standards for all. These coordinated energy transition strategies have the potential to reduce GHG emissions by 40 to 70 percent before 2050. Urgent action is required across the economy. Professor Patricia Perkins, a lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report released in April, discusses its new insights and their implications for Canadians.
