[Scholarly Skills Webinar] Talking to the Public: Communicating Your Research to a Non-Academic Audience
The Faculty of Graduate Studies is hosting a series entitled Scholarly Skills. Join us for our next workshop!
Learning how to share your research beyond the academic community is an essential skill for today’s scholars. This workshop, hosted by the Vice-Provost & Dean of Graduate Studies, will help you learn how to translate complex ideas into clear, accessible, and engaging messages that resonate with a wide range of non-specialist audiences. We’ll explore strategies for public speaking, media engagement, and storytelling, and identify practical tools that will help you make your research accessible, relevant, and impactful. Ultimately, conversations between academics and the broader public help everyone – scholars gain communications skills, new perspectives, and connections, all the while building public trust, informed decision-making, and broad support for research. Join us and strengthen your ability to have important public conversations, sharing your scholarship with the broader world.
