Pulling at Seams: a night of art, music, mask, poetry and performance

This is an interdisciplinary art event and creative experiment in collaboration with several artists and featuring several new works. It is hosted by Animacy Theatre Collective and Toronto musical group Parade. It includes an exhibit and a short film from EUC PhD candidates Morgan Brie Johnson and Alexandra Simpson (co-artistic leaders of Animacy Theatre Collective). These two works form part of their dissertation research at York U.
The evening starts with poetry from Subhanya Sivajothy and an exhibition of new masks that explore anti-extractivism created by Alexandra Simpson. There will be a screening of two new films, including Land Hunger, a feminist, clown eco-satire of settler colonial nation-state building created and performed by Morgan Brie Johnson; and Pull at the Seams, a new music video by Animacy and the Toronto band Parade that explores mask and film. Your nightcap includes a set from Parade’s brand-new album and a couple live pop-up live performances from Animacy.
