Publishing your research data in a data repository
Many scholarly journals are now requiring authors to submit a Data Availability Statement (DAS). Because of this requirement, the importance of publishing research data in a data repository and obtaining a permanent URL, such as a digital object identifier (DOI), is becoming increasingly important. This workshop introduces the guiding principles of data publishing. During this workshop, you will learn:
- How to prepare your data for sharing and long-term access
- How to select a data repository that meets your needs
- A brief overview of the data deposit process for York’s institutional research data repository, York University’s Dataverse, will also be provided.
- This workshop will be taught by the Libraries’ Research Data Management team and is part of the Libraries’ programming for International Love Data Week 2026.
