Nellie Library Book Club Event

The Nellie Langford Rowell Library is pleased to invite all students to our inaugural Book Club meeting where we will discuss the novel Split Tooth by Tanya Tagaq. The Nellie Library would appreciate your participation in examining the work of Tagaq, an Inuk throat singer, songwriter, storyteller, and visual artist from Nunavut.

Split Tooth relays the experiences of a girl growing up in Nunavut in the 1970s. In a blend of fiction, memoir, and Inuit legend, presented through poetry and prose, Tagaq depicts a community that struggles with violence, alcoholism, and poverty, but brims with love and tradition that continues to light the way despite any hardships.

Admission to the event is free. Refreshments will be served.

Come prepared for an engaging discussion about this haunting and tender exploration of an Inuit community in the 1970s. We promise a great time and we look forward to seeing you there.
