National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Film Screening Keele Campus (Hebron Relocation + Honour to Murray Sinclair)
Please join us in honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2024.
This film screening will feature two short films: Hebron Relocation (15 minutes) and Honour to Murray Sinclair (29 minutes), followed by a brief reflection and discussion with Laina Bay-Cheng, vice-president of equity, people and culture.
Hebron Relocation
Through touching conversations with community members, Andersen guides us with care as she learns about their stories of relocation and reflects on what it has meant for their families. By weaving together intimate stories from her community with rare footage that gives us a glimpse of community life during this upheaval, Andersen provides a heartfelt look at a difficult past that has changed the lives of Labrador Inuit forever.
Honour to Murray Sinclair
As the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Senator Murray Sinclair was a key figure in raising global awareness of the atrocities of Canada’s residential school system. The honouring of Senator Sinclair reminds us to honour the lives and legacies of the tens of thousands of Indigenous children taken from their homes and cultures, and leaves us with a profound feeling of hope for a better future.
