Mixer, Play-through and Tetris (2023) Screening
Join us on Thursday, January 23 in the Sensorium Flex Space for an afternoon celebrating gaming history and preservation. The event will feature a welcome session & mingle with refreshments, a game play-through to immerse yourself in the amazing history and enduring fun of Tetris, and a screening of the acclaimed film Tetris (2023), based on true events around the race to license and patent the video game Tetris from Russia in the late 1980s during the Cold War. The mixer and playthrough will begin at 3:00 pm, and the screening will begin at 4:00 pm.
This is the first event in the Save Play Series, a collaborative initiative that invites participants to engage creatively and conceptually with the genre of video games and re-imagine what preservation can mean in this context.
The Save Play Series is sponsored by Sensorium: Centre for Digital Arts and Technology, Digital Media at York, and AMPD
