Mental Health and Stigma
Mental health is an integral part of an individual’s overall health and essential to their survival. The Canadian Mental Health Association explains that mental health means finding and maintaining the right balance to manage life’s highs and lows. The loss of this balance can lead to disorders which, like physical illnesses, can take various forms. However, many people fear and misunderstand mental illness, and there are several taboos and prejudices on this topic. Fortunately, a well-targeted preventive educational approach is very effective at raising awareness and mitigating negative impacts. This workshop will demystify mental health issues and discuss their true nature, as well as their main causes, characteristics, manifestations, and treatment methods. Participants will be better equipped to contribute to reducing mental health problems in the workplace and support those affected in their journey back to health and active life.
