McLaughlin College Union Debate

You are cordially invited to the second McLaughlin College Union Debate of the 2021-2022 academic year that will consider a key question on the regulation of social media.

This House accepts that social media platforms should apply the same content moderation rules to global leaders as they do to other users.

Panelists: 

ÉTIENNE BROWN is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at San José State University.

NATASHA TUSIKOV is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Science at York University.

ANNE F. MACLENNAN is an Associate Professor, Department of Communication Studies, York University.

REGINA RINI holds the Canada Research Chair in Philosophy of Moral and Social Cognition and is Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at York University.

Moderator:

JAMES C. SIMEON is Head of McLaughlin College and an Associate Professor in the School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA), York University.
