Lessons Learned from Tragedies: Preventing Intimate Partner Homicide
Between 2010 and 2019, there were 718 cases of intimate partner homicide (IPH) in Canada involving 815 victims. The majority of these victims (79%) were women. Most of these tragedies were predictable and preventable. This presentation reviews the research, statistics, risk factors, and recommendations for intervention and prevention as identified by the Ontario Domestic Violence Death Review Committee (DVDRC). Resources and best practices created in response to recommendations by the Ontario DVDRC will be highlighted.
