This presentation will engage concepts of international education, public diplomacy and national security in the context of new geopolitics and specifically explore three research questions:

  1. What is the relationship between national security and public diplomacy when it comes to international education?
  2. How is the new geopolitical context shifting this relationship?
  3. What are the implications of these shifts to university-government relations and the role of higher education in promoting international education? (The U.S. and Canada serve as comparative case studies)
