International Education: a national security risk in a world of new geopolitics?
This presentation will engage concepts of international education, public diplomacy and national security in the context of new geopolitics and specifically explore three research questions:
- What is the relationship between national security and public diplomacy when it comes to international education?
- How is the new geopolitical context shifting this relationship?
- What are the implications of these shifts to university-government relations and the role of higher education in promoting international education? (The U.S. and Canada serve as comparative case studies)
