Our panellists, representing three generations and eight decades, are:
1. Joy Kogawa, Japanese-Canadian author (Obasan), Order of Canada recipient, and survivor of Canada’s who survived WWII internment camps
2. Anita Lee, award-winning Korean-Canadian documentary film producer, executive producer for the National Film Board of Canada, and founder of Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival
3. Jenna Tenn-Yuk, Chinese-Jamaican-Canadian LGBTQ+ activist, writer, and facilitator
The Q & A will encourage dialogue with the panellists to explore the intersectionality of race, gender identities and sexual orientation; the impact of marginalization; and the need for collective actions against racism and oppression.

The Asian Canadian Women’s Alliance* comprises those who identify as Asian Canadian and womxn of diverse ages and generations, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, spiritual affiliations, and includes both Canadian born and newcomers. Our goal is to build strong coalitions within our communities, as well as within Indigenous, Black and other marginalized communities to educate, advocate and effect systemic change toward a just and equitable future for all.
*Founding Members include (in alphabetical order): Jenny Ahn, Julia Shin Doi, Amy Go, Avvy Go, Ann Kim, Rosel Kim, Lynn Deutscher Kobayashi, Joy Kogawa, Anita Lee, Min Sook Lee, Winnie Ng, Dora Nipp, Maryka Omatsu, Pam Sugiman, Jenna Tenn-Yuk, and Jan Wong.
The event is supported by the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, Ryerson University, and the York Centre for Asian Research (York University).
