In a ‘Land of Hope’: Documents on the Canadian Jewish Experience, 1627-1923 – Pierre Anctil and Richard Menkis in Conversation with David S. Koffman

Join us in conversation with esteemed historians Pierre Anctil and Richard Menkis about their new primary source reader, In a “Land of Hope”: Documents on the Canadian Jewish Experience, 1627-1923. This book represents the world’s first effort to present an expansive portrait of Canadian Jewish life using original documents. It draws from archives coast to coast to coast, selecting a wide host of subjects and voices in multiple languages, from the earliest days of Jewish presence in what would become Canada to the inter-war era of immigration restriction. Anctil and Menkis will be interviewed by York’s David S. Koffman. Open Q-and-A to follow. A discount code for the book will be shared.
