Graduate Students Fireside Chats on Teaching

Dear science graduate students & post-docs,

We’re thrilled to announce that we will be re-starting our Science Graduate Student “fireside” chats on teaching and learning this Fall.  We—Dr. Tamara Kelly (Science Pedagogical Chair) and Ashley Nahornick (FSc. Educational Developer)—started this as an online offering in 2021/22. This year, you’ll have the option to attend in-person (snacks!) or online – we want everyone to have the opportunity to join in.

We will meet the third Monday of September, October, and November from 2 – 3 pm in-person in Bethune College 320, and the second Monday of December from 2-3 p.m. on Bethune College 320. Zoom links are listed below for those who cannot attend in-person. Winter meeting times will be sent out later in the Fall.

Each month we will discuss a crucial question related to teaching & learning science and there may be papers/resources suggested to support our developing knowledge. These informal one-hour conversations are a way to learn from each other’s experiences and knowledge in teaching Science.

All graduate students and post-docs are welcome to join. Drinks and snacks will be served!

A certificate of completion will be issued to those that participate in a minimum four sessions throughout the year.
