This is the third webinar talk in the Technoableism Seminar Series supported by the Institute for Technoscience and Society, York University’s Critical Disability Studies, Science and Technology Studies, and Health and Society programs. Coined by critical disability studies and STS scholar Ashley Shew, technoableism forms a narrative about disability that speaks to empowering disabled people, while also reinforcing harmful ableist tropes that cement beliefs around what kinds of bodies are deemed valuable.
