Eco-Arts in Place

Drop-in from March 2-6 at the Sensorium Flex Space to experience The Mariner Hospitality of the Coffee Ceremony (Aaron Joseph), Rooting Belonging (Anna Hao Long), and How Much Space Does a Bird Need (Julia Campisi).

These installations combine variations of sound, image and sculpture, and will play on a rotating basis.

The Mariner Hospitality of the Coffee Ceremony (Aaron Joseph) takes the form of a scripted audio-musical, rooted in Black migration, maritime memory, and an endangered Eritrean fable about Emperor Mersò and his two sons Miren and Gemel.

Rooting Belonging (Anna Hao Long) asks about relations to land while capturing the liveliness of the Chinese gardeners in Toronto.

How Much Space Does a Bird Need (Julia Campisi) uses the metaphor of a bird, its flight patterns, nesting habits, and need for open space, as a way to question how much “space” a mother is allowed to occupy in a world that both requires and restricts her.

Co-presented with Sensorium.
