Session description: Wen-Do Women’s Self-Defence offers a training space for non-binary individuals and women, of all abilities, aged 10 and up.
Wen-Do reinforces the idea that survivors are not responsible for the violence they experience and acknowledges the need for survivors to have spaces where they can feel empowered within their bodies.
Wen-Do, unlike other self-defense workshops recognizes that most women will experience violence by someone they know and care about and encourages participants to react within these situations, instead of expecting individuals to fight stranger-danger.
Instructor: Leslie Allin is a senior instructor with Wen-Do Women’s Self-Defence. She teaches at the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels, and trains facilitators for the EAAA Sexual Assault Resistance Education Program. Leslie has taught Wen-Do across Ontario, and in Québec, Nunavut, and Australia.
