POSTPONED: CHREI’s Annual Inclusion Week feature presentation ‘Reengaging the Significance of Listening’
NOTE: This event has been postposed until further notice.
Re/Engaging with Listening: Experiences of recognition, respect, and understanding in service of community building
Featuring the work of Angela Easby and Evadne Kelly, this panel tackles key questions about listening by examining themes of embodiment, the stakes and the risks associated with listening, the fear of listening and how it connects to the fear of change, and the importance of the heart in listening. It will bring focus to the mediums of dance and digital storytelling.
Key questions:
- How does our assessment of what is at stake in a moment of listening impact our experience and quality of listening?
- How do social behaviours of discomfort, such as resistance to uncertainty, hamper people’s ability to perceive, act on or acknowledge their perceptions of injustice? How are these patterns of behaviours systemically enabled by hierarchized power and knowledge relations?
