Audition Monologue Workshop for Theatre at York University

ABOUT THE EVENT
In this Audition Monologue Workshop, participants will explore how to prepare for an Acting audition, which is an essential part of the actor’s craft. The workshop will explore: (1) Breaking down text; (2) Personalizing text; and (3) Audition technique. 

Participants should come with a short monologue from a play (2 minutes or less) that they’re ready to explore.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Jamie Robinson is a versatile artist and professor at York University. He’s directed for CBC Gem, Canadian Stage, and more, and has acted at the Stratford Festival of Canada. Jamie teaches Acting/Directing at York University, where his research explores Canada’s casting practices. He’s also the co-chair of York U AMPD’s committee for Decolonization, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (DEDI). 

Meet Lan Vu the International Recruitment Officer for the York University School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD). Lan holds a master’s degree in education from Canada, where she was once an international student herself. With 15 years of experience in student advisory roles, Lan has been a guiding light for countless students navigating their educational journeys.
