ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

R.T. Thorne has emerged as one of Canada’s most eclectic storytelling voices. A versatile triple threat, focused on telling stories that break new ground representing the unrepresented. Latest project THE PORTER, is a critically acclaimed, Emmy-nominated historical drama for BET and CBC. In December 2023, R.T. was celebrated as Playback’s Director of the Year.

Ingrid Veninger is director of the York University Motion Media Studio. She joined the Department of Cinema & Media Arts in 2019 and is the area head of screenwriting. As a filmmaker, she has produced 15 features with premieres at TIFF, Rotterdam, Busan, Rome, Goa and MoMA in New York. Her current hybrid-fiction project is titled this film does not want a title.
