Critical Minerals Seminar Series, Harnessing lithium for a just and sustainable energy transition: Implications for communities and Producer states

Harnessing lithium for a just and sustainable energy transition: Implications for communities and producer states is the inaugural seminar in the Critical Minerals Seminar Series which is a monthly event hosted by African Extractivism and The Green Transition (AEGT), a project led by Professor Robert Saunders (Department of Politics, York University) and funded through a six-year SSHRC Partnership Grant.

This roundtable shares the early findings of a 5-year SSHRC-funded study – Lithium Frontiers – which explores the politics of lithium extraction in Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Canada and Chile. Specifically discussing the mobilization of political actors and interests in a context of competing claims over the development of lithium-based derivatives.
