Challenges and Opportunities for Europe and EU-Canada Relations

Brice de Schietere is the deputy Head of Mission of the EU Delegation in Ottawa, Canada, since 2016. Between 2013-16, he was based in Brussels at the European External Action Service as political assistant to the Managing Director for North Africa, Middle East, Arabian Peninsula, Iran and Iraq. Between 2009-2013, he was posted in Washington as Political Counselor. He was EU Fellow at Tufts University in 2008, and since 2009 serves as lecturer on EU foreign policy at the European College of Parma, Italy. Mr de Schietere joined the European Commission in 1998 and previously worked in the fields of external relations, on the enlargement of the European Union (in the negotiations team for the accession of Bulgaria to the EU), and on industrial issues. His educational background was in the École Nationale d’Administration (Strasbourg), SciencesPo (Paris), and the Université Paris-Dauphine.
