RISE Screening & Discussion with filmmakers Barbara Wagner & Benjamin de Burca

RISE, a new film by Bárbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca, features an incendiary company of poets, rappers, singers, and musicians, performing in the TTC’s new stations. Operatic in nature, this experimental documentary looks at rhythm and poetry as forms of creative labour and resistance, as the artists negotiate their lives, bodies and dreams on empty platforms and moving escalators, deep in the bowels of the Tdot, digging tunnels that are visceral and visionary. RISE was created in collaboration with the performers, the AGYU and grad/undergrads filmmakers in CMA. Join us for a screening, followed by a dynamic discussion with the filmmakers, crew and featured poets.
Admission is free and all are welcome
