Supporting Scholars at York: Preventing, Mitigating, and Responding to Scholarship Harassment
Across universities and disciplines, scholars face diverse forms and sources of harassment related to their research or teaching. Join York faculty members and representatives from university offices for information and conversation about how to contend with these concerns and support academic freedom.
This event is open to all York full-time faculty members interested in finding out about scholarship harassment, what might be done to prevent it and what recourse and resources are available if it occurs.
We will hear from 3 colleagues who have experienced scholarship harassment from various sources and using various means:
- Christine Till, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Health
- Jake Pyne, School of Social Work, Faculty of LA&PS
- Vidya Shah, Faculty of Education
There will also be representatives from university offices for discussion on the following topics:
- Online harassment
- Research supports
- Legal and complaints process
- Support for grad students
