Pura Vida Exhibition
In May 2024, 25 York University students travelled to Costa Rica to take part in the PANF 3030/5030 Global Eco-Arts Residency Course. This 10-day intensive course comprised a series of workshops, gallery tours, creative class-based exercises, and participation in a local community festival at York University’s Las Nubes Eco-Campus and surrounding areas. Through these experiences, students were introduced to themes of environmental and community-based art, food sovereignty, site-specific art, and the ethics of community engagement. The Pura Vida exhibit highlights some of the student-created art that was inspired by this course and the Las Nubes Eco-Campus in Costa Rica. It also includes artwork created by students who participated in the Environmental Arts and Food Sovereignty course offered in the previous year.
