All university students that are able to successfully complete their Master’s degree in economics, public policy/administration, finance, international studies or their Law degree by December 31, 2025 are invited to apply to the Economist and Policy Analyst stream that is at the heart of advancing the Department of Finance’s mandate.

Our six policy branches provide unparalleled opportunities for professional development and hands-on experience in shaping public policy in Canada.

As a recruit, you will have unparalleled opportunities to work on challenging issues and influence important public policy decisions, including:

Economic and fiscal forecasting;
The federal budget;
G20, G7 and other international meetings;
Federal health and social transfers to the provinces and territories;
Personal income, business income and excise tax policy;
Social programs like the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security and Employment Insurance;
Banking and financial sector regulation.
