Robarts 40th Anniversary Lecture featuring M. NourebeSe Philip

We invite you to attend the 40th anniversary Robarts Lecture, featuring the poet, novelist, playwright, and essayist M. NourebeSe Philip, who is launching a new edition of her acclaimed book-length poem Zong!  M. NourebeSe Philip is known for experimenting with literary form and their commitment to social justice, notably in Ontario. Through the innovative use of fugal and counterpointed repetition, Zong! becomes an anti-narrative lament that stretches the boundaries of the poetic form, haunting the spaces of forgetting and mourning the forgotten. Zong! has been disseminated in three dramatic performances by theatrical directors and excerpts of Zong! have been used in six different visual arts installations by different artists in five countries. This event is co-presented by Sensorium and the Department of Theatre, Dance and Performance.
