Meet-and-Greet: Artist Zeelie Brown

Students and faculty are encouraged to attend a meet-and-greet with Visiting Artist-in-Residence Zeelie on May 18th at 10:30am in HNES 138.

Zeelie’s artistry stems from her upbringing in rural Alabama. She creates Black and queer refuges called ‘soulscapes’ – blending sound, performance, installation, wilderness and more to provide solace and challenge systemic oppressions.

Zeelie Brown is being hosted by Professor Andil Gosine. Zeelie will be collaborating with the EUC community to create a quilt to explore the intersections of Black and Queer identities and nature, and will be shared at Dr. Gosine’s keynote lecture at the Sexuality Studies Association conference as part of Congress @ York on May 29th.
