York Dances 2025: Fragments of Existence
York Dances 2025: Fragments of Existence features the new choreographic works of 29 third year BFA majors performed by students engaged in all levels of York’s programs in Dance. Contradiction is in the zeitgeist and these emerging artists are exploring incongruity in a multitude of ways. Their compelling questions are palpable in the devising of dances ranging from expressive solos to vibrant large ensemble works. These creators are engaged in processes stemming from various conceptual underpinnings including the loss of potential, liberation, morphing/awakening, burnout, and what lies beyond the box. In addition to conducting their own creative processes, the students lead every facet of the production of York Dances, supported by faculty at every level of creation, performance, and production.
