Virtual Museum Launch: The Underground Railroad to St. Catharines: Harriet Tubman’s Canadian Legacy
From secret routes to new lives in Canada, the Underground Railroad reshaped the history of freedom in North America. In St. Catharines, Harriet Tubman established a northern base that helped freedom seekers reach safety and rebuild their lives. Through historic sites, archival records, and the voices of descendants, The Underground Railroad to St. Catharines: Harriet Tubman’s Canadian Legacy reveals how courage, faith, and community support helped create enduring Black communities. Discover some of the people and legacies that shaped Black freedom in southern Ontario.
Join us for the official launch of Harriet Tubman Institute’s virtual museum exploring some of the journeys, communities, and legacies of the Underground Railroad and early Black settlements in Ontario.
We are pleased to welcome honourary guests who contributed to the research of this project.
This project is funded by and in partnership with Digital Museums Canada.
