Shakespeare presents two very different love stories. Hero and Claudio fall in love almost instantly, but their relationship is threatened by the interference of Don John, who seeks to ruin their happiness. In contrast, Beatrice and Benedick are kept apart by their pride and constant bickering—until their friends step in and play matchmaker.
