The Overdose Crisis: Spotlight on Opioids, Sedatives & Stimulants
The Overdose Crisis: Spotlight on Opioids, Sedatives & Stimulants
In collaboration with the YFS Wellness Centre and Student Counselling, Health & Well-being SCHW, this workshop explores opioids, sedatives and stimulants; three drug classes at the core of Canada’s overdose crisis, which has taken over 50,000 lives since 2016. Designed for students, educators, caregivers and community members alike, the session offers a neutral, evidence-based look at these substances, covering their history, effects, youth usage trends, risks and harm reduction strategies. Participants will leave with practical tools to foster open conversations and support safer choices.
This event is offered in a hybrid format. Come join us in person in Room 109 at the Second Student Centre for some light snacks and beverages, or tune in virtually from wherever you are most comfortable.
