Sketching in the Third Dimension: VR Storyboarding with Gravity Sketch

Virtual information worlds can be used to create engaging multisensory experiences. Join this workshop to learn how to prototype your own three-dimensional world in virtual reality using the 3D design platform Gravity Sketch and a Meta Quest headset in ways that engage spatial thinking. Explore how the libraries’ collections can be used to inspire virtual space design. Once finished, turn your prototype into a storyboard that communicates the experience. Good experiences do more than just put us in a space; they enhance our awareness of that space and the implications of our presence in it.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain why spatial thinking matters and how it is engaged in virtual environments.
  • Create a 3D prototype of a virtual world using Gravity Sketch.
  • Use the library’s visual collections to inspire 3D space design.
  • Apply a workflow to reformat your prototype into a storyboard.
  • Recognize the library support available (equipment, training, collections, resources) for creating a virtual reality project.

Note: This is an interactive workshop where participants will engage in hands-on collaborative activities using a VR headset. Space is limited. Sign up early to reserve your spot.
