Professor Bawa is the first African/Black tenure-track professor in Sociology in the history of the department at York as well as the first African director of York’s Resource Centre for Public Sociology. As part of Black History Month, this presentation will examine Truth Commissions as mechanisms for civic inclusion, identity formation, institutional reform, and nation (re)building in post-conflict and post-authoritarian societies.
