[Scholarly Skills Webinar] Intellectual Property (IP): What You Need to Know

The Faculty of Graduate Studies is hosting a series entitled Scholarly Skills. Join us for our next workshop!

Why do graduate students need to understand Intellectual Property? IP is a product of intellectual, research, or creative labour. Since graduate students both engage in their own research and participate in the research projects of others, it can be important to understand the IP implications of these roles, as well as best practices for navigating IP rights and responsibilities with supervisors and other collaborators. Join FGS Dean Alice MacLachlan and a panel of York experts as they discuss the nature of intellectual property, the regulations governing Intellectual Property and Graduate Education at York, and best practices for discussing IP rights. We will also introduce key resources such as the IP Awareness Checklist, and our IP Memorandum of Understanding between Graduate Students and Supervisors.
