
Mentor Circles | How to get into Law School & Building Careers Beyond Courtrooms
Join us for in-person and informal mentoring session at the Alumni & Career Lounge, York Lanes (opposite the Bookstore).
Focus: Strategies of getting law school admission, building you career from classroom to courtroom and beyond as alternative careers in legal innovation and societal impact.

Alumni Mentors:
David Adjei, JD candidate at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. David is a 3L student at Osgoode Hall Law School. He is the co-president of the Osgoode chapter of the Nyantende Foundation, a non-profit that raises money for children’s education in Congo. He is also part of the Black (Canadian) Law Journal as the managing director. He is also part of the Canadian Law Review’s Publishing Review Board. David has spent the last two summers at McMillan LLP, a full-service corporate law firm, and will be returning there to complete his articles after graduating from Osgoode.
Roshni Khemraj (BA ’18, JD ‘21), Manager, Talent Advisory – Legal, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG). Roshni worked with Parkdale Community Legal Services and the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, providing legal assistance to women who have experienced violence and abuse in practice areas such as immigration, family and criminal law. After being called to the Ontario bar in 2022, Roshni spent built a wide litigation practice at a boutique firm in Toronto practicing predominantly in general commercial litigation, employment law, real estate disputes, personal injury and medical practice and appeared before clients at the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. Recently, Roshni began working at BLG LLP, as a manager in the Talent Advisory Legal department.
Ajith Thiyagalingam (BA ’15, JD ’18, MA ‘23), Immigration Staff Lawyer, Legal Aid Ontario. Ajith is a lawyer specializing in refugee and immigration law and international human rights law. He has worked as a lawyer with Legal Aid Ontario, as legal counsel at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, as a Legal Advisor with the Legal Resources Centre, as a legal policy specialist at Shopify Inc. and as a caseworker at Parkdale Community Legal Services. He currently sits as vice president on the Board of Directors of JusticeNet, on the Board of Directors of CAYR Community Connections and was previously on the Board of Directors of the South Asian Bar Association of Toronto.
