
Mentor Circles | How to Build Careers in Sustainability, Social Impact & Non-Profit Work
Join us for in-person and informal mentoring session at the Alumni & Career Lounge, York Lanes (opposite the Bookstore). This session will focus on creating a meaningful career in equity, sustainability, project management strategies and impact measurement.
Alumni Mentors:
- Alykhan Suleman (BA’ 95), CEO, Social Services Network (SSN). Alykhan graduated with a BA in Psychology from York University and a Master of Social Work in Community Development and Social Planning from Wilfrid Laurier University. He brings 20+ years of experience in the not-for-profit sector, of which he has worked on projects that have bridged across 21 countries globally. Alykhan currently manages Social Services Network for York Region (also operates under Senior Services Network) as their CEO, where he oversees staff and volunteers to empower, support and encourage seniors to live an independent and enriched life through programs, services, and advocacy work. His previous role as the Executive Director with New Circles Community Services allowed him to build a rich network within the diverse communities living in the Don Mills corridor to support newcomers, refugees and those living in poverty.
- Jason Robinson (BA ’17, MES ’19), Senior Policy Advisor, Black Equity Branch, Treasury Board Secretariat. Jason is a motivated individual with a passion for public policy centered around sustainability metrics and economic development in marginalized communities. He completed a Masters of Environmental Studies at York University, where he researched a socio-ecological approach to measure sustainable wellbeing at the provincial level using ecological footprint accounting, life satisfaction, and health-adjusted life expectancy. Jas was York University’s 2022 Top 30 Alumni Under 30.
