Leader Dialogue: From Tension to Teamwork (for people managers)

Tension and conflict are a normal part of working relationships—especially during change, high workload, or moments of unclear expectations. What matters most is not avoiding conflict, but how managers recognize it early, respond productively, and use it to strengthen trust and performance. This interactive 90 minute session helps people managers build confidence and capability in navigating tension and everyday conflict. Managers will practice practical tools for addressing misunderstandings, surfacing differing perspectives, and resetting strained relationships—before issues escalate or harden. Through discussion, reflection, and real world scenarios, participants will leave better equipped to move teams from friction to forward progress.

Key Learning Outcomes:

– Reframe tension in times of change as a typical and workable dynamic, and differentiate healthy tension from unresolved conflict or relationship breakdown.
– Identify personal and team conflict patterns by noticing early signs of tension, common triggers, and default responses, and understanding how these patterns show up during periods of change.
– Apply practical conversation tools to address tensions respectfully—surfacing concerns, naming impact, inviting perspective, and leading reset conversations that maintain shared expectations without blame or escalation.
