Key Ingredients for Child and Family Well-Being

Family life can be rewarding – but it can also be challenging, particularly when work, school, and other demands compete for our time and attention. Join Dr. Heather Prime, a child psychologist, and Gillian Shoychet, a clinical-developmental doctoral student, from the York University Psychology Clinic for an engaging, research-informed session exploring the key ingredients for fostering family and child well-being. We will discuss how family stress can affect relationships and what helps parents work effectively as a team. We will also explore skills for supporting children’s emotional and behavioural well-being, including emotion coaching and other evidence-informed parenting strategies. The session will conclude by highlighting some of the family-focused supports available through the York University Psychology Clinic.
