SUMMARY:VCP presents A CHORUS LINE
DESCRIPTION:A CHORUS LINE\nConceived and Originally Directed and Choreographed by Michael Bennett\nBook by James Kirkwood & Nicholas Dante\nMusic by Marvin Hamlisch\nLyrics by Edward Kleban\nCo-Choreographed by Bob Avian\nA Chorus Line tells the story of seventeen dancers all vying for a spot in the “chorus line” of a Broadway show. Focusing on their personal lives, struggles, and ambitions, the show explores the dancers’ backstories through song and dance, revealing their passion for performing and the sacrifices they have made. After the first round of cuts, Zach, the director and choreographer, asks each dancer to speak about themselves. Discomfort opens into revelation, confession leads to redemption, and within the bright, outwardly homogenous chorus, the audience begins to see each dancer’s individuality. From Cassie, the star who just needs the “music and the mirror and the chance to dance,” to Val, a small-town girl with a brand-new big-town body, to Mike, who took his sister’s place in dance class, saying “I can do that.” A Chorus Line is funny, heartbreaking, and refreshingly honest.\nWinner of 9 Tony Awards including 1976 Best Musical\n1976 Pulitzer Prize Award for Drama\nDirected & Choreographed by Kristen Pepper\nMusic Directed by Tom Kerr\nAssistant Directed by Joanna Radecki\nAssistant Choreographed/Dance Captained by Katherine Mackenzie\nStage Managed by Misun Kim\nFeb. 26 – Mar. 8, 2026\nTue-Sat @ 7:30pm\nSun @ 2:30pm\nFred Thury Studio Theatre, 258 Vanier College\nTo reach the theatre, take the stairs or elevator on the east side of Vanier College to the second floor.\nPay-What-You-Can-Afford Tickets\nSuggested Pricing: VCP Supporter $50 | General $25 | VCP Alumni $20 | Students $15 | VCP Current Company $10\nAvailable online or CASH ONLY at door\nWebsite: https://www.yorku.ca/laps/vcp/\nEmail: vcp@yorku.ca\nFacebook: @VanierCollegeProductions\nInstagram: @vancproductions\nA CHORUS LINE is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Tams-Witmark LLC. www.concordtheatricals.com\n
