SUMMARY:AI and Education: A Hands-On Approach for Course Transformation (Oct. 27-Nov. 28, 2025)
DESCRIPTION:This course can count toward the Certificates in AI Pedagogies ( https://www.yorku.ca/teachingcommons/certificates/#ai-pedagogies ) and the Certificates in University Teaching ( https://www.yorku.ca/teachingcommons/certificates/#teaching-proficiency ) (Note: it cannot be applied to both certificates unless taken a second time).\nLooking to get some hands-on time as you respond to LLMs and other generative AI tools in your teaching? Join us for a fully online course in the practical pedagogy of technology-enhanced teaching in the age of artificial intelligence. We will explore a range of topics and resources to determine what this technology might mean for your course policies, your assessments, and your teaching strategies. Participants will learn by doing as they apply course learning to make changes to their own course(s) – whether you are new to generative AI, already using it in your classroom, or sceptical about its role in education, this course will support you in developing a robust and pedagogically informed approach to its many facets and implications.\nThis course is open to all who teach at York, and is best suited to those who want to begin or deepen their learning on a range of AI-related topics while making incremental, just-in-time changes to teaching practice or planning ahead for more substantive changes.\nBy the end of this course, participants will have:\n• Made significant and meaningful changes to an existing course for enhanced learning in the age of artificial intelligence\n• Explored multiple aspects of course delivery and design that may be influenced by ChatGPT and similar technologies\n• Given and received feedback on concrete strategies for responding to generative AI in postsecondary education\nNote: Participants are welcome to re-take the course if so desired, but should be aware that some course structure and content will be familiar to them. Resources and course materials will be updated to reflect changes in the rapidly moving generative AI landscape.\nNote that registration for this course closes on Oct. 22nd, 11:59 pm.\nPlease register by completing this form.
