DESCRIPTION:York Music presents pianist Linda Ruan, prizewinner of the 2025 Eckhardt-Gramatté National Competition ( https://www.e-gre.ca/about ).\nTuesday, November 18, 2025\n10:00 am to 11:00 am\nTribute Communities Recital Hall\nFREE\nThe Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition for the performance of Canadian and contemporary music is a memorial to composer, pianist, and violinist S.C. (Sonia) Eckhardt-Gramatté, who spent the last twenty-one years of her life in Manitoba. It fulfills her lifelong dream of creating a means by which the music of contemporary composers could make its presence felt by young musicians on the threshold of their careers. The E-Gré National Music Competition has been held annually since 1976 at Brandon University.\nThe Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition acknowledges the support of the Canada Council for the Arts ( https://canadacouncil.ca/ ) to present this national tour featuring music by Canadian composers. This concert at York University is generously sponsored by the York Centre for Asian Research ( https://www.yorku.ca/research/ycar/ ).\n
